So I stroll into my local metaphysical bookstore, a place I like, and actually buy a "help-you" book... which is somewhat of a rare occurrence these days. It's a book authored by Osho, replete with a very bright, snazzy dust-jacket cover design so I *know* it's the right thing to do... I know very little about the guy, which is the way I want to keep it. Always a fan of reading things with a little intelligence behind them.

When I'm ready to check out, the altogether well-meaning man at the counter engages me in some banter and then takes a look at the book, pauses, and asks me, "So are you an Osho devotee?"

Devotee. Devotee. Devoteeeee?

It struck me as the stupidest goddamn thing ever, EVER! -- and I probably should have said so. I was like, ashamed for the *world* at that moment.

That or I should have punched him in the face.  "    "

damn lag-time.
